We provide estimates based on the weight of the actual items in each room that you want us to move. For local moves, your cost is based on the time it takes to complete the move. For long-distance moves, your cost is based on the total weight and distance of your move.
We ask that you pack up all loose items in boxes prior to the day of your move. All small and loose items should be boxed up to reduce the time required to complete your move, prevent damages, and lower the overall cost of your move.
Please ensure any restricted items, such as chemicals, alcoholic drinks or weapons are removed before the arrival of our movers.
This depends on several factors, but generally the number of movers assigned to your move is based on the total estimated weight and the number of trucks required to complete your move. We will recommend the required number of men to complete your move, but additional movers can be requested depending on availability.
We will not move weapons & ammunition, alcohol, hazardous and/or flammable chemicals, fireworks or any other items that are deemed potentially dangerous.
In addition, we will not move jewelry and any other items that we consider to be of extremely high value, including cash or certain pieces of art. If you are not sure about a particular item, please contact our office for more information.
Due to the unique characteristics of particle board, in most cases will not move this kind of furniture. This is because particle board lacks the structural integrity to safely move it without causing damage. In addition, the pieces are often glued together which makes it very difficult or impossible to safely disassemble this kind of furniture.
If you still need us to move particle board furniture, we require you to sign a waiver releasing Oak City Movers from all liability in case these items get damaged during the move.
This is completely up to you! Tipping is a common practice in the moving industry, so we do recommend you tip our movers depending on their performance and your satisfaction.
